The Hammers Training Lab

We have a fully integrated MOC onsite that is flying a fleet of virtual satellites 24/7. We have integrated all of our products to create a fully functional mission operations center. You can stop by to see how our products function in concert with each other to create a seamless operations center.

Our onsite MOC uses our product Galaxy® as the main ground system to command and process all telemetry from our virtual satellites. Our virtual satellites (Hammers SAT 1-5) are built using our virtual satellite simulation platform VirtualSat®.

VirtualSat (Vsat) allows the HammersSat MOC to simulate five virtual satellites, each spacecraft contains real-world Flight Software from Core Flight Services (CFS) and the Attitude Control System (ACS) from the Earth Observation 1 Mission. The combination of each software package, in conjunction with VSat’s ability to inject failures in the FSW provides flight controllers world real experience in anomaly recovery, launch and routine operations.  VSat’s  unique ability to run simulations faster than real-time enables operators to run multiple orbits, spacecraft slew modes, and recovery activities for a given class period.

We are using Mercury®, our data delivery system, to transfer data products from the ground system to our telemetry archiving and analysis system STARS®. Mercury is an event driven system that will detect and process products, and a whole lot more. STARS provides trending analysis tools for all the archived data that is produced from a fleet of satellites.

Its not just a MOC!

TRAINING FACILITY

Our lab also doubles as a training facility where you can gain hands on experience commanding satellites using our full featured products. Here you have the ability to see experience demonstrations and training in a real life scenario. You will have the ability to take deep dives on Galaxy, Stars, and Mercury and learn how to command a real spacecraft. Additionally we will be providing training on Core Flight System, the embedded software framework responsible for flying satellites; selected as NASA’s software product of the year. Training courses will be offered from introductory to advanced cFS development.
