Systems Engineering & Test

The Hammers Company has been providing systems engineering support for NASA missions for nearly two decades. Our experienced personnel have played major roles in every phase of spacecraft and instrument design, development, box-level testing, through integration and test, to launch and operations! We’ve developed flight software that has flown, is flying, or will soon be flying, aboard dozens of NASA or USGS led space projects.

Our ITOS/Galaxy® ground systems team supports dozens of projects for NASA, USGS, NOAA, the Department of Defense, the Canadian Space Agency, and many public and private universities and institutions from the University of California, Berkeley Space Sciences Lab, to the MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

The Hammers Company was lead on development of the Landsat-8 Mission Operations Element overseeing the build-up from requirements to factory testing of the Data Management System (now Nebula) and ITOS/Galaxy® T&C System, to interface testing between all ground system elements to final interface testing with the ground stations and spacecraft.

Still providing systems engineering support for the mission in flight, the Hammers team is also overseeing the MOE hardware upgrade, and conversion to a primarily virtualized environment, to ensure Landsat-8 mission success for many years to come with the greatest cost benefit possible.
